The page is about the layout of the property, what's where and our plans for each bit.
The "plan cadastral" of the property - the boundaries are highlighted in
blue...[Click on plan to get full sized copy]

The above plan shows the stream but not the leet that supplies the mill pond, the other
smaller feeder streams or the other ponds. Schema 1 below is a start at mapping
these.
Schema 1
shows the property, field boundaries (from "plan cadastral" - there are more but
these require a further site survey), the approximate course of the leet and the larger
footprint of the houses and the approximate location of the other buildings.
| The larger house, between leet & stream, is the "Moulin".
The one immediately on the opposite side of the leet is the "Pavillon".
The one set back, with its own drive, is the "Maître's" |

|
As you can see from Schema 1, the water that powered the waterwheel flows past the
Maître's house, under a little conservatory, to the small mill pond.

|
It then passes through a sluice gate (port d'écluse) and falls though the
space that used to hold the waterwheel and into the mill stream. Excess water flows
over a small weir to the side of the mill pond, tumbling over the rocks and into the mill
stream. See The Waterwheel for our intentions for this
"water" power |
Schema 2 shows the current land usage. We will need to review this after seeing what
happens during the first year. Our intention is to be as self sufficient as is
practicable and Mary is keen to preserve or establish a number of different wildlife
habitats.
The self sufficiency is likely to include:
chickens - eggs and for the pot; a
couple of pigs - to act as rotavators; and possibly we will include some sheep
- in the event we have ended up with a herd of goats - some of which have been
dispatched into the deep freeze.
